Dear Students & Families,

Thank you for the stocking full of gift cards and all the thoughtful cards and goodies. I hope everyone is enjoying a safe and happy holiday break!

I noticed some of you are reading and posting on our blog about what books you would recommend to others. :) I am looking forward to seeing more blog posts about book recommendations and anything you have read that has intrigued you! Keep up the holiday reading challenge.

Keep checking the blog for some pictures of snow. We are receiving lots of white fluffy snow in Northeastern Ohio.

                                                                                                                          Thank you,

Dear Students and Families,

Starting this week reading homework will look a little different. As a third grade team we created a short passage with open-ended questions for students to answer regarding the story. Students will receive the passage and questions on Monday and it will be due by Friday. At the bottom of the page, students will have a weekly reading log instead of the monthly reading log that we have been completing. Students need to try and read for 80 minutes each week from a book that is considered "just right" for them. Please do not have your child read books that are too easy. For example, cartoons, graphic novels, or books that they could recite without looking at the page because they have read it so many times. Students have discussed the new reading homework in class. Starting this week, students will not have cursive handwriting sent home for homework. We will be completing cursive handwriting during our writing workshop time.

Thank you for your continued support in helping your child with homework!

                                                                                                                     Sincerely,
                                                                                                                    Miss Reynolds

Mossman Elementary School Book Fair

Dear Students and Families,

Starting this Thursday, November 8th, students will be able to go and preview the Scholastic Book Fair in our school library. Students are more than welcome to bring money to purchase books. This is a great opportunity to purchase new books to have for our upcoming break. Newsletters showcasing some of the books that will be present at the Scholastic Book Fair will be coming home today in students take home folders. Please take some time to talk about book choices with your child.

Dear Students & Families,

Thank you so much for the support during our school Fun Run this past Friday. I am extremely proud of our students and the effort they put into running to raise money for our school. Thank you to all the parents who were able to come and support our students as they made many laps around the car rider lane. I appreciate all of the donations for water and the cooler with ice to provide cold drinks for students.I know the students appreciated having the water too.

I am getting nervous with all of the laps students ran that our entire staff will have to kiss a real pig....We will know soon enough. :)

Students have done an exceptional job with reading during the first nine weeks and for the month of October. Please check for a Pizza Hut Book-It coupon in your child's take home folder for your child to present at Pizza Hut for a free one-topping personal pan pizza. These coupons will be coming home on Wednesday, Oct. 31st. Thank you for your continued support in helping to make sure students are reading on a regular basis at home.

Lastly, tomorrow Oct. 31st is Halloween. Students are not to wear costumes, have crazy hair, or any hair dye in their hair when they come to school tomorrow. Please help keep our students focused on their learning tomorrow and save the costumes for after school or for trick-or-treating.

                                                                                                        Thank you,
